So on the bus today, I heard this strange noise. I look over, and there's some guy feverishly filing his nails. But no, I look again and it's not his nails he's filing, but his FINGERS. More specifically, he was filing his fingertips. I can't tell you how uncomfortable and grossed out I was.. I just wanted off that bus.

Soo.. bob registered for classes the other day, and while doing so he decided not to take english. Instead, he's taking the class CSCL 3472 Gay Men and Homophobia in American Culture to fulfill a few lib ed requirements.

I was planning on taking the same class fo fulfill the same requirements, so I though.. why not now?
I replaced Forest Hydrology and Watershed Management with Gay Men, Homophobia. This is the first class I've taken with bob since high school.. I wonder if this was a good idea?? Perhaps I can help him keep on track and finish all his homework and stuff.

new Schedule!! Mon, Wed and Fri I'm on the West bank, and Tues, Thurs I'm on the St. Paul campus. I did't want to have to take a bus back and fourth during the day from one campus to the other.. so that's why they're split up by days. These are ALL required for my major except the Ceramics.. that's just for fun. It will also be my last ceramics class as I will not be minoring in art any longer.

The reason I decided to give up on the art minor? Because I discovered a new minor which got me very excited. I loved that beginner geology class they required me to take.. and one day it just HIT me. I really wanted to take another one. Hopefully this week I will see a geology advisor about getting the Environmental Geosciences Minor. Doesn't it just SOUND cool? It's a really weird minor because I can take classes which deal with the social aspects of geology. Like.. there's an anthropology class I can take, and also a sociology class for the minor.

Perhaps one day I will be a graduate of CNR with a B.S. in Natural Resources: Policy and Law with minors in Forestry and Environmetal Geosciences. ooooo!

I like it very much and suggest that everyone follows it. ESPECIALLY take it from the guy on the side (that's exercise). They avoided putting "soda pop" on the list of things to avoid or use sparingly because SOME people wouldn't like that type of negative advertising. I disagree.

Something I learned today: If you're an organic farmer who's crop gets poisoned with GMO crops from cross pollination (due to wind or animals, etc..) you are breaking the law and can be SUED. Yes, even if you didn't want them there, and you were saving seeds to plant your next crop without knowing they were even there.. it doens't matter. Monsanto will sue your ass off and then poop on you. Note to self: people suck.

i got so excited about Guild wars starting.. I thought it was THIS weekend. Well, it's better that its not because I have to write a paper on Nuclear energy which is due Tues. It'll be easy. This Friday we're going to the high school play "the music man." and Sat we're going to a police auction. I hope I score something cool. (Hey, remember when homer bought that boat at a police auction and it was haunted or something?)

I was almost going to stop using Live Journal forever, but decided against it because some people might want to read it still.. hrm..

This means I can pick the appropriate icon for what I'm taking about (or not). You should check it out just to see the icon for this post. It's TOTALLY appropriate. yay! Sin City is totally awesometastic! It had some of my favorite actors to boot: Bruce Willis (so hot and awesome), Elijah Wood, Benicio Del Toro, Michael Clarke Duncan (aka. that really BIG black guy), Michael Madsen (we know him from Kill Bill as "Budd" and from Free Willy). Plus, one of my favorite directors took part as well, QUENTIN TARENTINO. My point is... go see it.

It feels so wonderful to start biking again! I biked Thurs, Fri, Sat AND Sunday. Wonderful!! Avoiding cars is one of my favorite things to do. I'm so lucky to have a boyfriend who feels the same way I do. Plus, he keeps me motivated to bike even if it's a little cold, or whatnot. I'm thinking...pretty soon gas will be too expensive to buy, so I better get used to biking. I'll be doing a lot of it in the future!!

Ok so.. some strange guy got off the 16 (same bus I was riding) and told me I was beautiful.
I got off the 16 to wait for a campus connector, and then he just walks up to me, says that, and then walks away. Just like that. WHAT?

I don't know if I'm supposed to be flattered, or creeped out. At the time, I was both.

Charles Osborne (1894–1991) of Anthon, Iowa, USA, started hiccupping in 1922 while attempting to weigh a hog before slaughtering it. He was unable to find a cure, and continued hiccupping until February 1990, a total of 68 year!

Osborne led a normal life in which he had two wives and fathered eight children. The only discomfort from his hiccuping, he claimed, was the constant risk of losing his false teeth!

During the first few decades, he hiccupped up to 40 times a minute, slowing to 20 a minute in later years. He finally stopped in 1990 – after an estimated 430 million spasms – and died the following year.

Bob sez: It is disgusting what the American movie-going public has done to the film 'The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou'. I am sickened by how incredibly stupid we, as a race, are. This has to be the single greatest comedy that has been put on the big screen in five to ten years, and it didn't even make back its budget. $25m to shoot, $20m domestic. That is a travesty, and you people are solely to blame. Did you know that the wholly awful, weekend-trash Meet the Fockers made ten times as much money in almost half the time? Is this what Americans want in a comedy? The same tripe again and again, horrible jokes, and completely un-clever puns? We'll just put a bunch of big-name actors in it, write a script on the plane ride over to the set, and everyone will eat it up! It's genius!

Fat Albert. I think just saying the name out loud in a public forum should cause babies to cry and mothers to cower in fear. This is pure shit. It isn't even a good idea on paper, and they made it, packaged it, and gave it out to be consumed. And consumed it was. It too, also in half the time, made twice as much money as Life Aquatic. I just want to say that again, in clear English, in case my last sentence was to abstract. Fat Albert made twice as much money as Life Aquatic. Let me try and think of the last really clever comedy that was in American theaters. Oh yeah, it was Shaun of the Dead, and it too suffered the same tragic fate. Here are these gems, pieces of cinematic gold, and Americans choose Meet the Fockers. Well, that's just dandy. I hope you choke on a stone.

I share this birthday with Rush Limbaugh and Howard Stern. yay.

For my 20th, I went out to eat at the Village Wok on Wash Ave. with my parents, sis and bob. If you ever go there, you absolutely MUST try the mock duck pot stickers ohmysooogood! I had mock fish fillet with chinese broccoli. Strange! Everything was real yummy so I will probably go back again sometime. It was nice because 4 out of the 5 of us orderded veggie, so us three vegetarians could eat lots of food.

I now have moneys (most likely for college) and an umbrella.

OK since I haven't updated in a while, it's about time I do that. These are all the neato classes I'm taking next semester. (6 classes! oh my!) It was a pleasant surprise when I got the news that I passed all my classes from last semester. So I guess I'll go back to school again.
After signing up for 5 required classes, I decided to take one more because my load was only at 13 credits. Why not take another 1 credit course for fun even if it IS a freshman seminar? And she did.

Freshman Seminar: State of the World 2005 (1 credit)
Description: I will be using as a text the World Watch Institute: "State of the World :2005," This book will be looking in depth at the state of the planet and how we can best manage human activities. In the 2004 edition, the Institute examined how we consume, why we consume, and what impact our consumption choices have on the planet and other people. With chapters on food, water, energy, the politics of consumption, and redefining the good life, State of the World 2004 asks whether a less-consumptive society is possible and then argues that it is essential. I will use this text as a starting point to introduce the topics that will be covered in 2005. The new book is available in January 2005. Terry Cooper is professor of soil and environmental science. He teaches introductory soils, field study of soils, and environmental impact statements. He is also coach of the soils judging team. His research interests are in soil morphology, urban soils, and environmental assessment.
